6 Sites for Web Designer Wannabes

This article is the result of a phone call that I received from a friend. She said: “I’ve just realized that I want to learn web design. What should I do?”. Based on this request I started to think about some of the best tutorials for web design. It is obvious that W3Schools was the first thing that popped in my mind. I believe it to be one of the best resorces for web designers because the site has wizard based tutorials for beginners on major web technologies. But let’s not make this post all about this site. So, in the next lines I will create a list with the best sites for starting a web designer carrier.

1. W3Schools

W3Schools is a powerful site for beginners. Here you can find tutorials about standard technologies like (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript. For basic tutorials from more powerful web technologies you can also check this site since PHP, ASP or SQL are covered here.

2. HTML Dog

This one is a very well structured site. It covers HTML and CSS from the entry level to the professional level. The tutorials are easy and well explained which is a good reason for many future designers to check this site.

3. Web Design – About.com

About.com is one comprehensive destination. Among its topics you can find also web design. I must say that here you can find a good tutorial on HTML and CSS along with some hints about a proper code editor.

4. HTML.net

This is a site that I just found. It seems like good site for a starting point in HTML and CSS. Like most of the sites, it has tutorials based on steps for a better understanding of these technologies and a better learning process.

5. IPL Kidspace

Maybe your not a kid, but a tutorial made for a kid is easily digested by an older person. So I believe that this site can be on our list since it has a everything explained. Make sure and check this site also because the information will definitely help you.

6. HTML Goodies

This site is dedicated to HTML and its power. Here you can find not only basic tutorials, but also discussions and more advanced topics. The information here is well explained and it has good examples.
