I know that not many of you are happy with this topic, but I want to share my reasons for it. From the title you might get some different directions. But, I want to tell you from the beginning that I will not compare Silverlight logo with Fedex or IBM logos.

In 2007, Microsoft made a move against the powerful and now almost standard Flash environment. This move was called Silverlight, a programable web browser plugin for animations, movies and vector graphics. Even if it is new in this game, Microsoft said that one computer from 4 now, has Silverlight installed. Pretty good!

Back to our main topic – Silverlight logo. This logo, is from my point of view one of the best new logo creation, in the recent logo history. It is not comparable with Fedex or IBM, because this logo has a new vibe in it.

It has all the basic features that it takes for a logo to stand out: good contrast, good grayscale representation, good graphic symbol and visibility at various scaling rates. The contrast is obvious due to the colors picked – blue, white and black. A color scheme that is often used by Microsoft in their products. As you can see the logo looks good in a black and white representation, which is another feature for good logos. And in the end, the graphic symbol. The graphic symbol is by far the standout element for the logo. It has a nice motion effect and along with the graphic design, it gives you the feeling of perfection, new, aura, and dynamism. Those are feelings that are quite rare these days. And when I’m saying these days, I’m referring at newbies making logos with none of these features.

From my point of view, this logo is suitable for a logo prize, and it will remain one of my favorite logos.
