I like Opera – New Opera 9.6

I’m sure that this browser is not your favorite, due to the percentage in the global market share. And I know that some of you are Apple addicts (Steve Jobs), others Firefox addicts (plugins) and others are OK with Microsoft products (…). But this browser is by internet related standards – the best browser.

Compared to other browsers, it has the stability. Opera is very stable and it doesn’t have problems in rendering pages correctly. It is the browser that shows you the real preview of a web site based on W3C standards. Also the browser has a very good speed in displaying pages. It has a widget platform that is more and more powerful and with new widgets. And these are not the only features that this browser has. But, let me tell you why I like this browser instead of showcasing its features.

I like the Trash Can: A simple icon that is responsible for all closed tabs. So, if you want to go back to a previous closed tab, just click on the trash can and pick your tab.

I like the embedded Email Client: Email is quite important for me, and knowing that I can receive it without advertising and other images related to the email provider, is a great feature.

I like the Wand tool: You don’t have to remember always the passwords, once is enough. Then the Wand tool will start its magic and with just one click will submit the credentials to the visited site.

I like the Developer Tool: Although not as powerful as Firebug, Opera’s Developer tool is in its early days and we will see many improvements in the upcoming versions.

I like the speed dial and fullscreen: The fullscreen in Opera is exactly what fullscreen means: FULLSCREEN without any bar or other elements. As for the Speed dial, that was a great innovation from Opera.

I love the new magazine-like RSS reader: It is awesome. This is clearly the way to visualize the information.

One thing that I like very much at Opera is its fair-play. It is the single major browser with its home page empty. Firefox goes to Google, IE goes to MSN and Safari goes to Apple. But Opera goes to the user.

Skipping the features, on the other side, it is normal to have drawbacks like all applications. The first, biggest and single drawback is that it doesn’t have the same plugin system as Firefox, or with the same power. On all other domains Opera is the king. And I hope their widget system will improve some day. Anyway, my message is to give it a try, with all these features and with its new UI, Opera is “the” browser.
