Media by Numbers – good niche with bad image

For those of you new to this website, here is a fact: I AM A MOVIE ADDICT. From upcoming movies to special effects, from acting performances to box office scores I like all this related information. Every day I visit the chart and see how’s “The Dark Knight” doing and so on.

One of the leading websites that are in the box office area is Media by Numbers. A quite known company in its field and with good reputation, Media by Number fails to deliver information in a pleasant way. My main concern is that this company has no visual identity.

The logo. This is probably something made with a freeware software application and by some young school “artist”. The artistic process is bad, although the structure is quite OK. With major improvements regarding the aspect and effects, the logo can become a decent logo.

Website design. NONE. This is like the design from 1998, when browsers and internet was far from visual entertaining. The flash header is still there to emphasize this idea, that the style is old and wrong. The only thing that can be accepted is the color scheme. The classic red-black-white is OK, but not well implemented.

Typography. NONE. No line spacing, no diversity. Here we can’t talk about typography at all.

I will let you to analyze a site that is dedicated to one of the most interesting, visual entertaining and richest domains – MOVIES. As an overall idea, from my point of view this site missed the point. It is not all about content – it is also how you deliver that content.
