Open Tablet PC Project from Techcrunch

Minutes ago, Michael Arrington made a clear announcement that he wants an affordable light tablet pc in $200 range. This is not a new request, and I’m sure many web surfers will adopt the idea. The concept is somehow in the dreams area, because I don’t know if you can find tablet pc technology at $200.

Michael suggested that the tablet will be just for browsing. So in this case the costs for production will be reduced. Also the possibility to use online office suites will be good. Anyway, Graphic Rating is supporting this initiative and we look forward to see the upcoming prototypes.

  • This will be interesting to see. However, I am not sure how well it will take off if people can’t type in to their favorite blogs or forums. I am guessing that it will operate based on a touch screen keyboard.

Yes, you are absolutely right. But I think this is no a major problem. I still wonder how will they keep it under $300 not to mention $200

  • Jon Kepler says:

Maybe the won’t be able to keep it under $200 or $300, but early adopters can still pay more and subsidize the costs incurred to ramp up production and bring the price down later. I’m also now wondering how this product would compare to the new, larger Kindle.
